Horbury Uke Fest

An early outing for the Gaslighters led by David Broadbent at the first Horbury Uke Fest. Shortly after this gig the group were unable to meet because of Covid.
On Line Zoom meetings were taking place in early 2020 and outdoor socially distanced meetings began in July 2020 in the Kings Arms garden, weather permitting.
On 1st October 2020 the first indoor meeting took place in the ‘back room’ of Walton Club, socially distanced and adhering to our Risk Assessment.
At the same time the Wakeylele Group, also led by David and managed by Linda Sargent, began to meet in St Paul’s Church Walton. Pre-covid they’d met in the library at the school.
After Covid, the Gaslighters and Wakeylele groups merged, adopting the Wakeylele name and meeting in Walton Club concert hall on Tuesdays and St Paul’s Church on Fridays.
At the time of the Horbury Uke Fest many current Wakeylele members were in other Wakefield area bands and have since also joined us. A number of enthusiasts play in several bands. You can spot many of them in Stanley Sykes excellent videos from the Uke Fest below..

Still finding our feet…….an excellent contribution from Rob setting /finishing us off on “ When I’m Dead and Gone”.
Don’t know some of the players and it seems that only 5 of this crew are now regular Wakeylele members.
Good game spotting all the (now) familiar faces playing in the different bands.
Almost four years ago now…. how young we all look!
